My sister gave me her 087 iPhone 3GS and Im 086

Replaced battery and upgraded to latest IOS on Monday. Phone was working fine until yesterday now its stuck in recovery mode and keep getting error x when I try to restore. Have tried suggested solutions on internet and nothign works. The phone was not jailbroken its ex vodafone and they unlocked when it came out of contract in March.Coudl you let me know cost to repair and restore back on last backup of data. Thanks
